Apart from nepotism debate what else is a never ending is the religious debate that has taken over the youth from quite some time now. Time and again we see big debates on TV channels speaking about the religious divide in India. Recently, Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan opened up about facing religious discrimination. Taking to Insta story, Babil mentioned how he has lost his friend due to his surname and how he’s often being called anti-national. He said he misses his friends who have stopped communicating with him because of the surname he’s born with.

Taking to Insta story he wrote, “Can’t even post anything about how I feel about the people in power without my whole f**king team telling me that it might end my career. I am scared, I am afraid. I don’t want to be. I don’t want to be judged by my religion. I am not my religion, I am a human being, just like the rest of India.” Further commenting on Holidays, he said, “You want the story in short without any name calling or career ending potentials?: Mandatory holiday for Eid cancelled on Friday while holiday for Raksha Bandhan on Monday still given. Okay then no problem, I’ll just celebrate Eid when it’s not Eid on Saturday most sarcastic smile ever.”

He went on to write about he’s scared as he feels speaking about it might end his career. Babil added, ““Can’t even post anything of how I feel about the people in power without my whole f**king team telling me that it might end my career. Can you believe this? I’m scared, I’m afraid, I don’t want to be. I just want to feel free again. I don’t want to be judged by my religion. I am not my religion, l am a human being, just like the rest of the population of India.”

Speaking about the discrimination he added, “I know the whole world is in a f**king frenzy but our beautiful secular India’s sudden relapse of religious divide is honestly getting scary. I have friends that have stopped communicating with me cause I’m of a certain religion. Friends I played cricket with when I was 12. I miss my friends. My Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, human friends. I just miss not giving a f*ck about what surname I was born with,” he said.

I love india. Don’t you dare, call me an anti-nationalist, I promise you, I’m a boxer, I will break your nose.” (ALSO READ: Irrfan Khan’s Son Babil Pens His Grief In An Emotional Note To His Father, Says 'Wish I Could Fit In Your Shoes')
